Atlanta takes care of Louisiana early, wins 8-1

A four-goal first period deficit cost Louisiana, which could not recover and fell to Atlanta, 8-1.

Atlanta's penalty kill excelled, as Atlanta gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Atlanta was led by Alex Johanson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Johanson scored 12:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Atlanta. Artus Laukaitis provided the assist.

Louisiana was unable to stop Atlanta from sending pucks towards the net, and Atlanta eventually piled up 60 shots on goal. Team could not crack Louisiana's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Atlanta additionally got points from Laukaitis, who also registered two goals and one assist and Frank Trazzera, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Atlanta included Evan Camba, who had two and Drake Cartwright and Jesse Brown, who scored one goal each. In addition, Atlanta received assists from Aleksi Hoivala, Andrew Cooley, Bear Ross, and Steve MacIver, who contributed one each and Kyle Rimbach and Philip Pugliese, who each chipped in two.

Louisiana was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 22 penalty minutes.

Parks Ownesby rejected 15 shots on goal for Atlanta. Atlanta incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Louisiana's Alex Domas stopped 52 shots out of the 60 that he faced.
