Wisconsin tried its best to erase a four-goal deficit, but La Crosse would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. La Crosse made the score 4-0 on a goal by Jerame Schuetzle at 6:57 in the second period, and Wisconsin got as close as 4-2 when Peter Henderson scored 19:32 into the third period. Daniel Toycen had one goal and two assists to lead La Crosse. Toycen scored on the power play 35 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-0 La Crosse. Schuetzle provided the assist. La Crosse kept Wisconsin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Max McConnell made 33 saves on 37 shots. La Crosse additionally got points from Taylor Trapp, who also registered one goal and one assist and Schuetzle, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Hunter Dolan also scored for La Crosse. Other players who recorded assists for La Crosse were Jared Bromberg, who had one. Wisconsin forced La Crosse goalie Andrew Wagner to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.
