Wooster outlasts Cincinnati, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Wooster escaped with a 5-3 victory over Cincinnati.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mike Zenone at 17:44 of the third period.

Zenone had two goals to lead Wooster to victory.

Cincinnati's power play was ineffective against Wooster's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Wooster was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 69 minutes in penalty time. Wooster had been averaging 33.0 minutes in penalties per game. The defensemen of Wooster were also effective in Cincinnati's zone, and came away with two goals.

Wooster also got points from Ryan McCarty, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Wooster included Trenton Mulnix and Zach Bilius, who scored one goal each. In addition, Wooster received assists from Jason Watts, who had two and Rubin Chavarria, Nick Mooney, Christian Miller, and Joe Morgan, who each chipped in one.

Cincinnati's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. Cincinnati surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game.

Cincinnati was led by Rory Callihan, who had one goal and one assist. Callihan scored 6:16 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Taylor Hamilton assisted on the tally. Cincinnati additionally got points from Marc Anderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cincinnati also got a goal from Brady Kiplinger as well.

Morgan rejected 18 shots on goal for Wooster. Wooster registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Wooster ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Houmard was ejected from the game. Daniel Dolliver made 19 saves for Cincinnati on 23 shots. For Cincinnati, Callihan was ejected from the game.
