McConnell leads Wisconsin to shutout victory over La Crosse

Max McConnell recorded a shutout against La Crosse as Wisconsin picked up a 2-0 win.

Wisconsin was led by Nathan Viberg, who racked up one goal. Viberg scored on the power play 3:55 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Wisconsin. Wisconsin had gained a power play chance when Daniel Toycen was whistled for tripping. Peter Henderson picked up the assist.

Wisconsin put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow La Crosse to score on any of its four power plays. Wisconsin's defensive play was more effective than usual against La Crosse. Wisconsin averages 2.8 goals allowed per game.

Wisconsin also got a goal from Connor Boscaccy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wisconsin were Russel Barone, who had one.

La Crosse did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. La Crosse puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Wisconsin was unable to stop La Crosse from sending pucks towards the net, and La Crosse eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. La Crosse could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.
