Wooster holds on for 5-3 win against Metro

Metro tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Wooster held on for a 5-3 victory.

Wooster made the score 5-2 on a goal by Zach Bilius at 9:12 in the third period, and Metro got as close as 5-3 when Kevin Shand scored 18:27 into the third period.

Wooster was sparked by Christian Miller, who racked up one goal and one assist. Miller scored 15:26 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Wooster. Carmon Teel picked up the assist.

Wooster stifled Metro's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wooster kept Metro's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kameron Limburg made 30 saves on 35 shots. Wooster's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Wooster also had goals scored by Tyler Crites, Trenton Mulnix, and Brandon Scholze, who each put in one. In addition, Wooster received assists from Brad Sneed, Rubin Chavarria, Tyler Houmard, Jason Watts, and Brad Delenko, who contributed one each.

Metro's offense rang up 47 shots on Wooster's net. Metro's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Metro averages 2.1 goals allowed per game.

Others who scored for Metro included Nick Papandrea and Pearce Vance, who scored one goal each. More assists for Metro came via Michael Tratar, Jacob Drinkard, Dylan Naumovski, and Matt Dempsey, who each chipped in one.

Wooster's Joe Morgan stopped 44 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Wooster totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Wooster, Sneed was ejected from the game. Metro totaled 34 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play. For Metro, Vance and Jason Newel were ejected from the contest.
