Peoria survives Evansville comeback, wins 3-1

Evansville tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Peoria would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

A goal by Ben Koester put Peoria up 3-0 in the third period, but Evansville pulled to within two on Jon Grimm's tally 10:01 into the third period.

Peoria was sparked by Nathan Marlow, who finished with one goal and one assist. Marlow scored 7:45 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Peoria. Aaron Siegrist picked up the assist.

Peoria excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Peoria's offense rang up 59 shots on Evansville's net.

In addition, Peoria received assists from Thomas Kolaz, who had one and Levi Armstrong, who had two.

Evansville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Peoria power plays.

Nic Piech made 16 saves for Peoria on 17 shots. Peoria incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Adam Conkling rejected 56 shots on goal for Evansville. Evansville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
