Early goals doom Euless, falls to Atlanta, 9-0

Euless fell behind early, and Atlanta kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-0 victory.

Alekandr Zendejas spearheaded the defensive effort for Atlanta, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 26 saves for the shutout. Zendejas certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.75 entering the contest.

Atlanta was paced by Drake Cartwright, who had one goal and one assist. Cartwright scored 1:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Atlanta. Philip Pugliese provided the assist.

Atlanta forced Euless' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots and forcing 36 saves. Mike Severson made eight stops and Thomas Bailey made 28. Atlanta stifled Euless' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Atlanta surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Atlanta averages 4.6 goals per game. Atlanta's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Atlanta also got points from Artus Laukaitis, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Ryan Dumond, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Atlanta included Riley Hummitsch, Kyle Rimbach, Steve MacIver, Alex Johanson, and Dylan Wattles, who scored one goal each. In addition, Atlanta received assists from Trey Opack, who had one, Jack Cleaver, who had two, and Andrew Cooley, who had three.

Euless put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Atlanta to score on any of its five power plays.

Atlanta incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Euless incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
