Point Mallard survives Evansville comeback, wins 5-4

Evansville tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Point Mallard held on for a 5-4 victory.

Point Mallard made the score 5-3 on a goal by Justin Dunn at 13:37 in the third period, and Evansville got as close as 5-4 when Brian Crink scored 19:15 into the third period.

Johnathan Meakins had two goals to lead Point Mallard to victory. Meakins found the back of the net 5:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Point Mallard and again while 9:55 into the first to make the score 2-0 Point Mallard.

Evansville was unable to stop Point Mallard from sending pucks towards the net, and Point Mallard eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

Point Mallard also got points from Josh Hamilton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Dunn, who also registered one goal and one assist. Point Mallard also got a goal from Stephen Coulter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Point Mallard were Joe Bresingham and Matt Darnell, who contributed one each and Jake Cox and Justin Delisle, who each chipped in two.

Evansville was led by Jon Grimm, who had one goal and two assists. Grimm scored 19:41 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Point Mallard. Brett Siewertsen picked up the assist. Evansville additionally got points from Brett Howard Jr., who also finished with one goal and one assist. Brandon Bornkamp also scored for Evansville. In addition, Evansville received assists from Nate Thormann and Triston Theriot, who contributed one each.

Cooper Seedott made 20 saves for Point Mallard on 24 shots. Point Mallard incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Evansville's Brian Forness stopped 41 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Evansville totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Evansville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Thormann was ejected from the game.
