Toledo survived a determined comeback attempt by Metro on the way to a 3-1 win. Toledo took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Metro storm back on a Pearce Vance goal 5:19 into the third period to pull to two goals down. Toledo's Glen Bates was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 50 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Bates will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.67. Toledo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Metro power plays. Toledo was helped by Tyler Zalecki, who had one goal. Zalecki scored 1:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toledo. Josh Smith picked up the assist. Toledo also got points from Nick Nappi, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Nolan Stanley also scored for Toledo. In addition, Toledo received assists from Blake Mullins, Ricky Kwapich, and Graham Goupille, who each chipped in one. Metro stifled Toledo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Metro's offense operated below its season average. Metro puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. Metro's offense rang up 51 shots on Toledo's net. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Mark Vansaw and Marc Schwartz, who contributed one each. Toledo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kameron Limburg rejected 25 shots on goal for Metro. Metro incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
