West Michigan outlasts Southern Tier, 4-2

The game between West Michigan and Southern Tier was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end West Michigan emerged with a 4-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and William Bonser secured the win for West Michigan with a goal in the second period.

West Michigan's penalty kill excelled, as West Michigan gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

West Michigan was sparked by Kyle Nikles, who finished with one goal. Nikles scored 12:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 West Michigan. Bonser picked up the assist.

West Michigan forced Southern Tier's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 42 shots and forcing 38 saves. Cody Gibson made 23 stops and Steele Millard made 15. West Michigan stifled Southern Tier's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

West Michigan additionally got points from Nathan Rieman, who also registered one goal and one assist and Bonser, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. West Michigan also got a goal from Ryan Price as well. More assists for West Michigan came via Mitch Kalleward and Justin Bloomfield, who contributed one each.

Southern Tier was helped by Joseph Gerace, who grabbed one goal. Gerace scored 1:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Southern Tier. Isaiah Crawford assisted on the tally. Ingus Matins also scored for Southern Tier. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Elijah Williams and Victor McCutcheon, who each chipped in one.

Samuel Woznicki made 25 saves for West Michigan on 27 shots. West Michigan incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Southern Tier incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
