LA Jr. Kings (MM) uses shootout to best San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM), 5-4 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as LA Jr. Kings (MM) defeated San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) in a shootout 5-4 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM)'s shootout goals were scored by Tyler Buchanan and Mikhail Ekchenguer. LA Jr. Kings (MM)'s other shootout goals were scored by Ryan Ng and Jared Christy.

LA Jr. Kings (MM) overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. LA Jr. Kings (MM) fell behind 4-2 after a goal by San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM)'s Sebastian Larsson at 13:30 in the second period. LA Jr. Kings (MM) tied things up at 4-4 on a short handed goal by Christy at 12:12 in the third period.

Christy had two goals to lead LA Jr. Kings (MM) to victory.

LA Jr. Kings (MM) kept San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM)'s goalie busy throughout the game, and Noel Zuccaro made 30 saves on 35 shots. LA Jr. Kings (MM) was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes.

LA Jr. Kings (MM) additionally got points from Troy Robertson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tanner Osterkamp also scored for LA Jr. Kings (MM). In addition, LA Jr. Kings (MM) received assists from Wyatt Light, Connor Nobach, Sean Cullinane, Ng, and Auston Ghirardelli, who contributed one each.

LA Jr. Kings (MM) was unable to stop San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) from sending pucks towards the net, and San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) was helped by Cameron Ward, who had one goal. Ward scored 5:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM). Guillaume Bose picked up the assist. Others who scored for San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) included Buchanan and Eric Pinsky, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) were Greyson North, Jacob Nelson, Andrew Bascom, Tyler Nelson, Ryan Meure, and Alexander Beckert, who each chipped in one.

Robert Jacobson rejected 30 shots on goal for LA Jr. Kings (MM). LA Jr. Kings (MM) registered two goals on six power play opportunities. San Jose Jr. Sharks (MM) registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
