Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) falls to LA Jr. Kings (mm) after surprising comeback

LA Jr. Kings (mm) rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm).

LA Jr. Kings (mm) let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. LA Jr. Kings (mm) took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Jacob Modry at 17:07 in the first period. LA Jr. Kings (mm) went down 2-0 after Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm)'s Andy Perkins put the puck home at 4:21 in the first period. After evening things up at 4-4 on a goal by Ryley Nahra at 4:15 in the third, LA Jr. Kings (mm) got the game-winner from Joshua Starks at 15:49 in the third period.

LA Jr. Kings (mm) excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) was unable to stop LA Jr. Kings (mm) from sending pucks towards the net, and LA Jr. Kings (mm) eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

LA Jr. Kings (mm) also got points from Cole Guttman, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Nahra, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Nicholas Castro, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for LA Jr. Kings (mm) came via John St. Ivany, who had two and Lucas Bachofner, Jacob McGrew, and Hirotaka Cox, who contributed one each.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) forced LA Jr. Kings (mm)'s goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 34 shots and forcing 30 saves. Jagger Denys made 17 stops and Rhett Bruckner made 13. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow LA Jr. Kings (mm) to score on any of its five power plays.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) was led by Dmitri Karnaukh, who tallied one goal and two assists. Karnaukh scored 9:21 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm). Luke Ormsby picked up the assist. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) additionally got points from Ormsby, who also registered one goal and one assist. Del Perina also scored for Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm). In addition, Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (mm) received assists from Jeremy Gabriele, Michael McCosh, Cal Nauss, Demetrios Koumontzis, and Jake Lamberty, who each chipped in one.
