Huge game by Burgess boosts Fairbanks over Kenai River, 7-3

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs' Todd Burgess had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-3 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears.

Burgess scored at 18:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 18:03 into the third to make the score 5-3 Fairbanks.

Fairbanks' offense rang up 39 shots on Kenai River's net. The Ice Dogs got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Fairbanks additionally got points from Logan Coomes, who also racked up one goal and three assists and Alex Mehnert, who also had one goal and one assist. Fairbanks also had goals scored by Marshal Plunkett, Austin Junger, and Aaron McPheters, who each put in one. More assists for Fairbanks came via Ryner Gorowsky, who had four and Adam Kleven, Cayden Cahill, Evan Somoza, and Tyler Tomberlin, who contributed one each.

The Brown Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The 30 shots that Kenai River put on net surpassed the Brown Bears' average of 23.5 shots per game this season.

Kenai River was helped by Joey Sardina, who tallied one goal. Sardina scored short handed 19:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kenai River. A slashing call on Dylan McArthur put the Brown Bears on the penalty kill. Evan Butcher picked up the assist. Others who scored for Kenai River included Jordan Hank and Adam Kresl, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kenai River received assists from Jeff Solow, who had two and Charles Spetz, Ashton Amaya, and Cameron Cook, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Lindgren rejected 27 shots on goal for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brian Baker recorded 32 saves for Kenai River. The Brown Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
