Omaha AAA 16U pulls away in second, rolls over Thunder Bay Kings 16U, 7-0

Omaha AAA 16U scored four goals in the second period to pull away from Thunder Bay Kings 16U and clinch a 7-0 win.

Omaha AAA 16U got the win behind a great game by Jackson Decker, who had two goals and two assists. Decker scored the first of his two goals at 1:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Omaha AAA 16U. Seth Benson provided the assist. Decker's next tally made the score 3-0 Omaha AAA 16U with 14:14 left in the second period. Omaha AAA 16U had gained a power play chance when Ian Tookenay was whistled for hooking. Kendrick Frost assisted on the tally.

Omaha AAA 16U managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Omaha AAA 16U wound up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. Thunder Bay Kings 16U was unable to stop Omaha AAA 16U from sending pucks towards the net, and Omaha AAA 16U eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Omaha AAA 16U got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Omaha AAA 16U additionally got points from Frost, who also had two goals and two assists and Benson, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Omaha AAA 16U also had goals scored by Kyle Kawamura and Chaz Rometty, who each put in one. In addition, Omaha AAA 16U received assists from Joe Petruzzella, Nicholas Doyle, and Sam Renlund, who contributed one each and Austin Nault and Trail Thompson, who each chipped in two.
