Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U uses shootout to best Esmark Stars 16U, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U defeated Esmark Stars 16U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout featured three attempts between both teams. Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U also got a shootout goal from Nathan Hodges.

Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U fell behind 1-0 after a goal by Esmark Stars 16U's Samual Hrabcak at 13:34 in the second period. Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U tied things up at 1-1 on a short handed goal by Hodges at 6:07 in the third period.

Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U's Andrew Miller was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Miller will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.81.

Rocky Mountain Roughriders 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Esmark Stars 16U to score on any of its five power plays.
