Washington Little Capitals 16U uses early goal to top Pursuit of Excellence 16U, 3-1

Matthew Vermont scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Washington Little Capitals 16U held off the challenges of Pursuit of Excellence 16U in a tough 3-1 win.

Washington Little Capitals 16U took over the lead for good with a goal by Vermont at 4:40 in the first period. Washington Little Capitals 16U had gotten the advantage when Pursuit of Excellence 16U's Luke Harvie was sent off for interference. Cole McDowell picked up the assist.

Washington Little Capitals 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 41 penalty minutes.

Washington Little Capitals 16U was led by Brian Middledorf, who had one goal. Middledorf scored 4:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Washington Little Capitals 16U. Griffin Long assisted on the tally.

Pursuit of Excellence 16U's defense shut down Washington Little Capitals 16U's forwards for much of the game, and Washington Little Capitals 16U got off only 10 shots during the contest.
