Team Illinois 16U uses early goal to top Pursuit of Excellence 16U, 2-1

Luke House scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Team Illinois 16U held off the challenges of Pursuit of Excellence 16U in a tough 2-1 win.

A goal 6:22 into the first period by House proved to be the game winner, and powered Team Illinois 16U to the victory. Michael Carso assisted on the tally.

Team Illinois 16U was led by Logan Britt, who racked up one goal. Britt scored 6:40 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Team Illinois 16U. Ryan Green picked up the assist.

Team Illinois 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Team Illinois 16U's offense was handcuffed by Pursuit of Excellence 16U's defensive play, and Team Illinois 16U managed only five shots on goal during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for Team Illinois 16U were Logan Kons, who had one.

Team Illinois 16U's defense shut down Pursuit of Excellence 16U's forwards for much of the game, and Pursuit of Excellence 16U got off only one shot during the contest.
