Honeybaked 18U wins tough contest against Team Illinois 18U, 5-3

The game between Honeybaked 18U and Team Illinois 18U was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Honeybaked 18U emerged with a 5-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Joey Kile's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Dan Sokolka had one goal and four assists to lead Honeybaked 18U. Sokolka scored 13:27 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Honeybaked 18U. Logan Fish assisted on the tally.

Honeybaked 18U kept Team Illinois 18U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Tierney made 29 saves on 34 shots.

Honeybaked 18U also got points from Bobby Lynch, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Noah LaLonde also scored for Honeybaked 18U. In addition, Honeybaked 18U received assists from Fedor Gusynin, who had one.

Team Illinois 18U forced Honeybaked 18U goalie Alex Mosquera to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Team Illinois 18U was helped by Jonathan Lakhani, who racked up one goal. Lakhani scored 26 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2. Callahan Lavery picked up the assist. Team Illinois 18U additionally got points from Kyle Herbster, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Team Illinois 18U also got a goal from Jordan Muzzillo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Team Illinois 18U were Jacob Ambrosat and Liam Thrawl, who contributed one each.

Mosquera recorded 31 saves for Honeybaked 18U. Honeybaked 18U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Team Illinois 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
