Team Illinois 18U holds on for 4-2 win against Meijer AAA 18U

Meijer AAA 18U tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Team Illinois 18U held on for a 4-2 victory.

Team Illinois 18U made the score 4-1 on a goal by Zach Hayes at 11:40 in the third period, and Meijer AAA 18U got as close as 4-2 when Ryan Lawrence scored 15:52 into the third period.

Team Illinois 18U got the win with help from a great game by Max Finner, who had one goal and two assists. Finner scored 1:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Team Illinois 18U. Brock Hill picked up the assist.

Team Illinois 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Meijer AAA 18U power plays.

Jonathan Lakhani also scored for Team Illinois 18U. More assists for Team Illinois 18U came via Jordan Muzzillo, Callahan Lavery, and Jacob Ambrosat, who contributed one each.

Meijer AAA 18U was helped by Ethan Stutzman, who registered one goal. Stutzman scored 13:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Team Illinois 18U. Kyle Prendel assisted on the tally. In addition, Meijer AAA 18U received assists from Caleb Hite, who had one.

Shane Brancato recorded 15 saves for Team Illinois 18U. Team Illinois 18U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Meijer AAA 18U's Dawson Minder stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Meijer AAA 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
