Huge game by Gusynin boosts Honeybaked 18U over Omaha AAA 18U, 5-2

Honeybaked 18U's Fedor Gusynin had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over Omaha AAA 18U.

Gusynin found the back of the net 11:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Honeybaked 18U and again while 7:57 into the third to make the score 5-1 Honeybaked 18U.

Honeybaked 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Omaha AAA 18U to score on any of its four power plays. Honeybaked 18U's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Honeybaked 18U finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Honeybaked 18U also got points from Logan Fish, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Honeybaked 18U also had goals scored by Joey Tabbi and Davis Kirkendall, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Honeybaked 18U were Raegan Wortz, Dan Sokolka, and Noah LaLonde, who each chipped in one.

Omaha AAA 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Omaha AAA 18U's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Omaha AAA 18U is averaging 2.5 goals against for the season.

Omaha AAA 18U was helped by Jaden Anderson, who finished with one goal. Anderson scored 4:54 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Honeybaked 18U. Tristan Ashbrook provided the assist. Jasper Weatherby also scored for Omaha AAA 18U. In addition, Omaha AAA 18U received assists from Johnny Bennis and Jordan Fader, who contributed one each.

Honeybaked 18U's Mike DePhillips stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Cole Weaver made 23 saves for Omaha AAA 18U on 28 shots. Omaha AAA 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
