Calgary Inferno completes comeback, beats Brampton Thunder, 5-4

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, Calgary Inferno battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over Brampton Thunder.

Calgary Inferno let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. Calgary Inferno took a 4-3 advantage on a goal by Brigitte Lacquette at 1:52 in the third period. Calgary Inferno went down 3-0 after Brampton Thunder's Jenna McParland put the puck home at 14:14 in the first period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Laura McIntosh at 3:56 in the third, Calgary Inferno got the game-winner from Meaghan Mikkelson-Reid at 8:03 in the third period.

Calgary Inferno got the win thanks to a great game by Rebecca Johnston, who had two goals and one assist. Johnston scored the first of her two goals at 16:18 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Brampton Thunder. Erica Kromm picked up the assist. Johnston's next tally made the score 3-2 Brampton Thunder with 2:03 left in the first period. Calgary Inferno earned a power play opportunity when Rebecca Vint was put in the box for interference. Brianne Jenner assisted on the tally.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Calgary Inferno also got a goal from Sarah Davis as well. More assists for Calgary Inferno came via Jill Saulnier, who had one and Hayley Wickenheiser and Hayleigh Cudmore, who contributed two each.

Brampton Thunder forced Calgary Inferno's goaltenders to work between the pipes, totaling 38 shots and forcing 34 saves. Kathy Desjardins made 25 stops and Delayne Brian made nine.

Brampton Thunder was led by Jamie Lee Rattray, who had one goal and one assist. Rattray scored 7:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton Thunder. Sarah Edney picked up the assist. Brampton Thunder also got points from McParland, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Brampton Thunder received assists from Jocelyne Larocque, who had one and Fielding Montgomery, who had two.

Calgary Inferno incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brampton Thunder's Erica Howe stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that she faced. Brampton Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
