New England penalty kill dominates in 2-1 defeat of Cape Cod

Cape Cod failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and New England shook off a number of penalties to win, 2-1.

New England was led by Tim Paige, who finished with one goal. Paige scored on the power play 15:55 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New England. New England had gained a power play chance when Zack Goodman was whistled for slashing. Cam Webster assisted on the tally.

New England was held below its usual level of production. New England puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. New England kept Cape Cod's goalie busy throughout the game, and Clayton Pierce made 39 saves on 41 shots.

New England also got points from Brian Glover, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for New England were Nick Johnson and Ian Gately, who each chipped in one.

Cape Cod could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Cape Cod averages 4.9 goals per game.

Cape Cod was led by James Brosnan, who scored the team's only goal. Brosnan scored on the power play 12:55 into the third period to make the score 1-1. An interference penalty on Steve Crocker had put Cape Cod on the power play. Dan Moore picked up the assist.

Robbie Campbell made 19 saves for New England on 20 shots. New England incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Cape Cod incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
