Jersey Shore vanquishes New York in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Jersey Shore defeated New York in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Jersey Shore came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Jersey Shore trailed 4-2 after a goal by New York's Dominick Sacco at 12:01 in the third period. Jersey Shore knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jared Schneider at 17:21 in the third period.

Jersey Shore's offense rang up 61 shots on New York's net.

Jersey Shore also got points from John Rubin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Jersey Shore included Bogdan Khvatov and Freddie Schaljo, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Shore were Ben Wingbermuehle, Alexander Tan, Jared Karas, Tyler Goclan, and Dylan Plsek, who each chipped in one.

New York forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. New York surpassed its season average of 32.0 penalty minutes per game. New York put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Shore to score on any of its six power plays. New York forced Jersey Shore goalie Scott Albertoni to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

New York additionally got points from Shawn Eastman, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Daniel Backstrom, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. New York also got a goal from Jimmy Warrick as well. In addition, New York received assists from Phillip Garcia, who had one.

Scott Albertoni made 31 saves for Jersey Shore on 35 shots. Jersey Shore ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Stephen Mundinger rejected 56 shots on goal for New York. New York registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
