New England uses early goal to top Lewiston/Auburn, 3-1

Jake Latham scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and New England held off the challenges of Lewiston/Auburn in a tough 3-1 win.

Latham provided New England with the game-winning tally when he scored 19:17 into the first period. Ryan Gauvin provided the assist.

Gauvin was all over the ice for New England, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Gauvin scored the first of his two goals at 1:08 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New England. Cam Webster picked up the assist. Gauvin's next tally made the score 3-1 New England with 8:07 left in the third period. New England had gotten the advantage when Lewiston/Auburn's Austin Siering was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Tim Paige provided the assist.

New England was led by goalie Devyn Levesque, who finished with 29 saves while allowing one goal. Levesque managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.24 prior to the game.

New England stifled Lewiston/Auburn's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.
