Roc City outlasts Syracuse, 4-3Lakeshore Arena Sun, Feb 21, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Roc City escaped with a 4-3 victory over Syracuse. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brandon Corey at 12:03 of the third period. Roc City was led by Corey, who registered one goal. In a losing effort, Syracuse was led by Kelsey Head, who tallied two goals. Head scored the first of his two goals at 6:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Roc City. Raymond Rowe picked up the assist. Head's next tally made the score 3-3 with 16:59 left in the third period. Hunter Soden provided the assist. Roc City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Roc City forced Syracuse goalie Kyle VanWagner to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Roc City additionally got points from Justin Allen, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Roc City included Joseph Gardner and Sam Cammilleri, who scored one goal each. More assists for Roc City came via Cory Della Stua, who had two and Aidan Conolly, Jared Tam-Grimshaw, Robert Vasta, and Anthony DePetres, who each chipped in one. Syracuse kept Roc City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Nevinger made 31 saves on 34 shots. The defensemen of Syracuse were also effective in Roc City's zone, and came away with three goals. Syracuse also got a goal from Jag Masters as well. In addition, Syracuse received assists from Tucker Bartenslager and Christian Paradiso, who contributed one each. Roc City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Syracuse's VanWagner stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Syracuse incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
