Lockport survives Wilkes-Barre comeback, wins 5-3Cornerstone Arena-Heinrich Fri, Feb 12, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Lockport survived a determined comeback attempt by Wilkes-Barre on the way to a 5-3 win. A goal by Christopher Gasiewicz put Lockport up 5-2 in the third period, but Wilkes-Barre pulled to within two on Darrin Bruce Jr's tally 15:05 into the third period. Lockport stifled Wilkes-Barre's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lockport forced Wilkes-Barre goalie Devin Peterson to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Lockport was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Lockport was led by Erick Santiago, who registered three goals. Lockport additionally got points from Mark Friol, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lockport were Jordan Pocobello, Kurt Villani, Ryan Logar, and Dylan Jenkins, who contributed one each and Peter Guido and Fankie Bodami, who each chipped in two. Lockport was unable to stop Wilkes-Barre from sending pucks towards the net, and Wilkes-Barre eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Wilkes-Barre could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 29 minutes in penalties during the game. Wilkes-Barre was led by Brett Welsh, who finished with two goals. Welsh scored the first of his two goals at 12:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lockport. Hunter Hackling picked up the assist. Welsh's next tally made the score 3-2 Lockport with 1:25 left in the second period. Zacharia Ouladelhadjahmed assisted on the tally. In addition, Wilkes-Barre received assists from Connor Landrigan, who had two. Sal Stalteri recorded 44 saves for Lockport. Lockport registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Peterson rejected 33 shots on goal for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
