Jersey Shore wins tough contest against Cape Cod, 5-3

Jersey Shore gutted out a close 5-3 win against Cape Cod.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and John Rubin secured the win for Jersey Shore with a goal in the third period.

Jersey Shore forced Cape Cod goalie Anton Zemba to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots.

Jersey Shore additionally got points from Jared Karas, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Jersey Shore included Christian Cooley, Bogdan Khvatov, and Tyler Goclan, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Shore were Frederic Villeneuve, Travis Valvo, and Frederic Ampleman, who each chipped in one.

Cape Cod's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Cape Cod averages 2.4 goals allowed per game.

Cape Cod was led by Mike Jessman, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Jessman scored on the power play 9:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Jersey Shore. Cape Cod had gotten the advantage when Jersey Shore's Marcus McCall was sent off for checking from behind. Maxime Dordet picked up the assist. Cape Cod also had goals scored by Aaron Deady and Chuck Costello, who each put in one. In addition, Cape Cod received assists from Joe Brennan, who had one and Eric Szeker, who had two.

Scott Albertoni recorded 25 saves for Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Anton Zemba made 52 saves for Cape Cod on 56 shots. Cape Cod incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
