New York outlasts Skylands, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, New York escaped with a 4-2 victory over Skylands.

New York gained the winning advantage on a goal by Robert Kalata 7:02 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Skylands' power play was ineffective against New York's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

New York was led by Kalata, who grabbed one goal.

New York kept Skylands' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Bartholomew made 33 saves on 37 shots.

New York additionally got points from Dominick Sacco, who also registered one goal and one assist. New York also had goals scored by Nicholas Lermer and Gunther Stange, who scored one goal each. More assists for New York came via Sam Shaheen, who had two and Jimmy Warrick, Martin Grinberg, and Sean Lake, who contributed one each.

Skylands did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Skylands puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Skylands forced New York goalie Stephen Mundinger to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Skylands was helped by Ernest Komarnitskii, who finished with one goal. Komarnitskii scored on the power play 15:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 New York. Skylands had gotten the advantage when New York's Augie Onorato was sent off for boarding. Alex Linquito picked up the assist. Skylands also got a goal from Zach Mazzarisi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Skylands were Tim Vant, Cory Decosta, and Mike King, who each chipped in one.

Mundinger recorded 40 saves for New York. New York incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Skylands incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
