Saliany's hat trick boosts New England over East Coast, 9-5

East Coast could not stop New England's Arya Saliany, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-5 win.

Saliany's first goal came 2:25 into the second period. He then added goals at 16:41 into the second and at 4:32 into the third.

East Coast's 19 penalties came back to haunt it, as East Coast let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

New England forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. New England had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. New England forced East Coast goalie Aidan Critchlow to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. New England surpassed its usual scoring output this season. New England averages 4.2 goals per game. New England gave up more goals than its normal season average. New England averages 2.5 goals allowed per game.

New England also got points from Hunter McTague, who also registered one goal and one assist, John Krapian, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Ryan Gauvin, who also had one goal and one assist. New England also got a goal from Kyle Weiss as well. In addition, New England received assists from Brian Glover, who had four, Steve Crocker, Ian McNamara, Brendan Miller, and Cam Webster, who each chipped in one, and Tim Paige and Ian Gately, who contributed two each.

East Coast was often in penalty trouble, totaling 18 minors and one major for 81 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game East Coast had been spending in the box. East Coast's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, East Coast averages 2.8 goals per contest.

East Coast was helped by Matt Moreschi, who finished with two goals. Moreschi scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:07 into the first period to make the score 2-1 East Coast. A roughing penalty on Derek Lovejoy had put East Coast on the power play. Jon Mathieu picked up the assist. Moreschi's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 New England with 13:34 left in the second period. Jon Macdonald provided the assist. East Coast additionally got points from Chris Usseglio, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. East Coast also had goals scored by Mason Smith and Cole Norsetter, who scored one goal each. More assists for East Coast came via Kyler Harding, Jacob Lilledahl, and Preston Palamara, who each chipped in one.

Dominic Lamanno recorded 12 saves for New England. New England ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Johnson was ejected from the game. Aidan Critchlow made 31 saves for East Coast on 40 shots. East Coast registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Team's Usseglio and Ryan Monte were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
