Sacco's goals lift New York to 7-5 victory over Skylands

Dominick Sacco had four goals to lead New York to a 7-5 victory over Skylands.

Sacco's first goal came 18:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:40 into the third, at 12:01 into the third, and at 16:05 into the third.

New York managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. New York ended up below its season average of 35.0 penalty minutes per game. Skylands was unable to stop New York from sending pucks towards the net, and New York eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. New York surpassed its usual scoring output this season. New York has scored at the pace of 4.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

New York also got points from Shawn Eastman, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Daniel Backstrom, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Gunther Stange also scored for New York. Other players who recorded assists for New York were Sam Shaheen and Nick Jean-Louis, who contributed one each and Nicholas Lermer and Jimmy Warrick, who each chipped in two.

Skylands forced New York's netminders to work in net, taking 44 shots and forcing 39 saves. Stephen Mundinger made 23 stops and Anthony DiGiorgio made 16. Skylands stifled New York's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Skylands was helped by Ernest Komarnitskii, who tallied one goal. Komarnitskii scored 15:47 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Skylands. Cory Decosta picked up the assist. Skylands also had goals scored by Tim Vant, Dan Demarco, Mike King, and Zach Mazzarisi, who each put in one.

New York registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Mathias Yttereng made 44 saves for Skylands on 51 shots. Skylands incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
