Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as New England defeated Northeast in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. Northeast got a shootout goal from Derric Trudeau. In addition to the clincher, New England got a shootout goal from Brian Glover.

New England saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. New England made the score 4-1 on a goal by Ryan Gauvin at 3:58 in the second period. Northeast evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Kevin Perry at 10:23 in the third period.

New England forced Northeast's netminders to work between the pipes, totaling 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Steven Murphy made 19 stops and Leo Lake made 16.

New England was helped by Brendan Miller, who racked up one goal and one assist. Miller scored 2:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New England. Kyle Weiss picked up the assist. New England also got points from Weiss, who also had one goal and one assist and Steve Crocker, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, New England received assists from Nolan Arbuckle, who had two and Arya Saliany and Ian Gately, who contributed one each.

Northeast additionally got points from Travis Hyde, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Trudeau, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Adam Carvalho also scored for Northeast. Other players who recorded assists for Northeast were Zachary Smith, who had two and Alex ODowd and Michael Le, who each chipped in one.

Dominic Lamanno made 14 saves for New England on 18 shots. New England totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Northeast incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
