East Coast falls to Northeast after surprising comeback

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, Northeast battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over East Coast.

Northeast never led in the game until netting the game winner. Northeast fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by East Coast's Matt Moreschi at 5:45 in the second period. Northeast tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Zachary Smith at 7:43 in the third period. Northeast scored the game winner at 19:26 in the third period on a goal by Smith.

Northeast was led by Kevin Perry, who registered one goal.

East Coast was unable to stop Northeast from sending pucks towards the net, and Northeast eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Northeast also got points from Derric Trudeau, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Northeast received assists from Adam Carvalho, who had two and Kyle Hoxie and Conor Harrington, who each chipped in one.

East Coast put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Northeast to score on any of its three power plays. East Coast forced Northeast goalie Trevor Trudeau to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

East Coast was helped by Mason Smith, who racked up one goal. Smith scored 6:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Coast. Kyler Harding assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for East Coast were Chris Usseglio, who had one.

Trudeau rejected 36 shots on goal for Northeast. Northeast ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. East Coast's Aidan Critchlow stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. East Coast incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
