Roc City wins tough contest against New York, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Roc City escaped with a 4-2 victory over New York.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brandon Corey's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Corey had a great game for Roc City, netting two goals.

Roc City's penalty kill excelled, as Roc City gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Roc City stifled New York's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Roc City forced New York goalie Matthew Memolo to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Roc City also had goals scored by Robert Vasta and Sam Cammilleri, who scored one goal each. In addition, Roc City received assists from Anthony DePetres, who had two and Joseph Gardner and Mike Elliott, who each chipped in one.

New York forced Roc City's netminders to work in net, taking 44 shots and forcing 42 saves. Ian Stahl made 20 stops and Justin Nevinger made 22. New York could not produce up to its normal offensive output. New York puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game.

New York was helped by Chris Hozza, who finished with one goal. Hozza scored 1:43 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Backstrom picked up the assist. Jimmy Warrick also scored for New York. Other players who recorded assists for New York were Robert Kalata, Gunther Stange, and Augie Onorato, who contributed one each.

Roc City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Memolo rejected 39 shots on goal for New York. New York incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
