Jerome's big game bests East Coast in 9-5 Maine win

Maine's Matt Jerome had a big offensive game, scoring four goals and contributing two assists in his team's 9-5 win over East Coast.

Jerome's first goal came 19:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:47 into the second, at 9:00 into the second, and at 4:52 into the third.

Maine's offense rang up 36 shots on East Coast's net. Maine bested its season scoring average. Maine averages 2.8 goals per game. Maine could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Maine additionally got points from Jordy Knoren, who also registered one goal and one assist, Collin Fader, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Shayne Plummer, who also racked up two goals and four assists to lead the team in points, and Greg Terlov, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Maine came via Ryder Parkhurst, who had two and Riley Lavoie and Zach Gagne, who contributed one each.

East Coast stifled Maine's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. East Coast surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, East Coast averages 2.5 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

East Coast was led by Curtis Harper, who tallied one goal and two assists. Harper scored on the power play 5:19 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A too many men penalty on Travis Townsend had put East Coast on the power play. Kyler Harding provided the assist. East Coast also got points from Harding, who also registered one goal and one assist and Tom Potter, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for East Coast included Mason Smith and Jon Macdonald, who scored one goal each. In addition, East Coast received assists from Preston Palamara, who had two and Ryan Monte and Rick Mulligan, who each chipped in one.

Robson Stewart made 24 saves for Maine on 29 shots. Maine registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Travis Spangle recorded 27 saves for East Coast. East Coast incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
