Lewiston/Auburn rips Maine, 6-1

Lewiston/Auburn had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over Maine.

Brett Bittner was all over the ice for Lewiston/Auburn, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Bittner scored the first of his two goals at 16:54 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Lewiston/Auburn. Mike Heffernan picked up the assist. Bittner's next tally made the score 4-1 Lewiston/Auburn with 17:54 left in the second period. Walker Hamilton assisted on the tally.

Lewiston/Auburn pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 38 penalty minutes.

Lewiston/Auburn excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Lewiston/Auburn kept Maine's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Daigle made 25 saves on 31 shots. Lewiston/Auburn got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Lewiston/Auburn also got points from Heffernan, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Hamilton, who also had one goal and two assists. Lewiston/Auburn also had goals scored by Jordan Crowe and Cam DuFault, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Lewiston/Auburn were Zachary Barry, David Fish, Brady McNulty, and Mark Ferullo, who each chipped in one.

Maine struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Lewiston/Auburn to score two power play goals on three chances.

Maine was led by Ryder Parkhurst, who scored the team's only goal. Parkhurst scored 2:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Maine. Riley Lavoie picked up the assist.

Lewiston/Auburn's Barry stopped 14 shots out of the 15 that he faced. For Lewiston/Auburn, Thomas Kuntz was ejected from the game. Maine incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Maine ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Parkhurst was ejected from the game.
