Cape Cod falls to Lewiston/Auburn in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Lewiston/Auburn pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Cape Cod on a clutch goal by Brady McNulty.

Lewiston/Auburn was led by McNulty, who racked up one goal and one assist. McNulty scored 3:27 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Lewiston/Auburn. Brett Bittner provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Cape Cod was paced by Anthony Giannelli, who registered two goals. Giannelli scored the first of his two goals at 7:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cape Cod. Dylan Legarie picked up the assist. Giannelli's next tally made the score 2-2 with 6:36 left in the third period. Legarie assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:35 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Lewiston/Auburn racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Lewiston/Auburn had been averaging 18.0 minutes in penalties per game. Lewiston/Auburn excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Cape Cod was unable to stop Lewiston/Auburn from sending pucks towards the net, and Lewiston/Auburn eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Lewiston/Auburn also had goals scored by Ryan MacIntosh and Simon Corriveau, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lewiston/Auburn received assists from Mark Ferullo, who had one.

Cape Cod's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Cape Cod surpassed its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game. Cape Cod's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Lewiston/Auburn power plays. Cape Cod forced Lewiston/Auburn goalie Claes Endre to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots.

More assists for Cape Cod came via Dan Moore, who had one.

Endre rejected 46 shots on goal for Lewiston/Auburn. For Lewiston/Auburn, Colby Siering was ejected from the game. Cape Cod's Anton Zemba stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Cape Cod ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Moore was ejected from the game.
