New York beats Roc City 8-1 as House gets hat trick

Michael House netted a hat trick to lead New York over Roc City, 8-1.

House's first goal came 12:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 14:55 into the first and at 16:15 into the second.

New York was led by goalie Stephen Mundinger, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Mundinger managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.27 prior to the game.

Roc City's power play was ineffective against New York's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

New York was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. New York surpassed its season average of 34.0 penalty minutes per game. New York forced Roc City's netminders to work between the pipes, firing 56 shots and forcing 48 saves. Ian Stahl made 11 stops and Justin Nevinger made eight. New York put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Roc City to score on any of its seven power plays. New York outdid its season average for goals scored. New York has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

New York also got points from Robert Kalata, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Jimmy Warrick, who also registered two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Ricky Regala, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Nicholas Lermer also scored for New York. In addition, New York received assists from Eric Hewitt, Sam Shaheen, Jerome Emanuel, Corey Rees, and Nick Jean-Louis, who contributed one each.

Roc City's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Roc City had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Roc City did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Roc City averages 3.2 goals per game. New York was unable to stop Roc City from sending pucks towards the net, and Roc City eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

New York registered two goals on four power play opportunities. New York ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Emanuel was ejected from the game.
