Syracuse wins tough contest against Lockport, 3-2

Syracuse and Lockport were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Syracuse made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Syracuse gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kelsey Head 14:22 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Syracuse was led by Head, who had one goal.

Syracuse's offense rang up 32 shots on Lockport's net.

Others who scored for Syracuse included Nicholas Sanborn and Raymond Falso, who scored one goal each. In addition, Syracuse received assists from Nate Walker, who had two and Tucker Bartenslager, Jag Masters, Hunter Soden, and Rocco DeRollo, who contributed one each.

Lockport could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Lockport puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. Lockport forced Syracuse goalie Kyle VanWagner to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Lockport was helped by Brendan McFall, who finished with one goal and one assist. McFall scored on the power play 9:30 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Lockport had gotten the advantage when Syracuse's Brendan Sand was sent off for interference. Frank II Vecchio assisted on the tally. Lockport also got points from Vecchio, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lockport were Devin Kasperek, who had two.

VanWagner rejected 36 shots on goal for Syracuse. Syracuse incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tim Schiess recorded 29 saves for Lockport. Lockport incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
