Gagne, Parkhurst dominate Skylands, lead Maine to 8-3 win

Behind two goals from Zach Gagne and one goal Ryder Parkhurst, Maine downed Skylands 8-3.

Gagne scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:32 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Maine. Maine had taken the advantage when Skylands' Alec Sanchez got sent off for boarding. William Dunham picked up the assist. Gagne's next tally on the power play made the score 7-3 Maine with 11:16 left in the third period. Maine had gotten the advantage when Skylands' Nicholas King was sent off for hooking. Jordy Knoren assisted on the tally. Parkhurst scored 3:35 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Maine. Reagan Wintle picked up the assist.

Skylands was unable to stop Maine from sending pucks towards the net, and Maine eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Maine bested its season scoring average. Maine has scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Maine capitalized on Skylands' penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. Maine's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Maine also got points from Sam Dedian, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Maine included Noel Fischer, who had two and Travis Townsend and Gage Chenard, who scored one goal each. In addition, Maine received assists from Dylan Farrell- Reny, who had one and Hunter Morgan and Matt Jerome, who each chipped in two.

Skylands' offense rang up 35 shots on Maine's net.

Skylands was helped by Ernest Komarnitskii, who grabbed two goals. Komarnitskii scored the first of his two goals at 9:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Skylands. Hunter Ledwith provided the assist. Komarnitskii's next tally made the score 2-2 with 46 seconds left in the first period. Skylands earned a power play opportunity when Knoren was put in the box for tripping. Sanchez assisted on the tally. Skylands additionally got points from Sanchez, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Skylands came via Cole Skelly, Antonio Martiniello, and Alex Linquito, who contributed one each.

Maine's Dunham stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Maine incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mathias Yttereng made 33 saves for Skylands on 41 shots. Skylands incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
