New York wins tough contest against New England, 3-2

The game between New York and New England was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end New York emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Jimmy Warrick's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

New York was sparked by Warrick, who had one goal. Warrick scored 19:06 into the third period to make the score 3-2 New York. Daniel Backstrom assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, New England was paced by Brandon Hamner, who grabbed two goals. Hamner scored the first of his two goals at 12:13 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Gauvin provided the assist. Hamner's next tally made the score 2-1 New England with 1:16 left in the second period.

New York excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

New York additionally got points from Backstrom, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Gunther Stange also scored for New York. More assists for New York came via Robert Kalata, Shawn Eastman, Martin Grinberg, and Sam Shaheen, who contributed one each.

New England's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four New York power plays.

In addition, New England received assists from Steve Crocker, who had one.

Stephen Mundinger recorded 25 saves for New York. New York incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. New England's Dominic Lamanno stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. New England incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
