Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Wilkes-Barre defeated Syracuse in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Wilkes-Barre came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wilkes-Barre was down 2-1 after a goal by Syracuse's Raymond Rowe at 4:53 in the third period. Wilkes-Barre knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Derrick Wruble at 15:47 in the third period. Syracuse was unable to stop Wilkes-Barre from sending pucks towards the net, and Wilkes-Barre eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Ryan Flanagan also scored for Wilkes-Barre. Other players who recorded assists for Wilkes-Barre were Brandon McCulloch, James Lyle, Zacharia Ouladelhadjahmed, and Kenny Myers, who contributed one each. Syracuse forced Wilkes-Barre goalie Nolan Bivolcic to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. Syracuse also got a goal from Nicholas Sanborn as well. In addition, Syracuse received assists from Rocco DeRollo, who had one. Bivolcic rejected 47 shots on goal for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ryan Scheide made 29 saves for Syracuse on 31 shots. Syracuse incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
