Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) vanquishes Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) defeated Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.

Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) to score on any of its three power plays. Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) forced Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) goalie Jacob Berger to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) was helped by Jake Horacek, who registered one goal. Horacek scored 10:17 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Joey Abel picked up the assist. Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) additionally got points from Brett Christie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) also got a goal from Andrew Iehle as well. More assists for Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) came via Alex Peterson and Chris DalFarra, who contributed one each.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) was led by Brett Pickler, who had one goal and one assist. Pickler scored 7:49 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Jonathan Dube assisted on the tally. Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) also had goals scored by Yehor Vinnytskyi and Mason Vukonich, who scored one goal each. In addition, Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) received assists from Brett Dillon and Drew Platt, who each chipped in one.

Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM)'s Harrison Feeney stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Philadelphia Jr. Flyers (MM) incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Berger rejected 31 shots on goal for Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM). Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (MM) incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
