St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) survives Cleveland Barons (MM) comeback, wins 5-3

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) survived a determined comeback attempt by Cleveland Barons (MM) on the way to a 5-3 win.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) made the score 5-1 on a goal by Nick Balestra at 13:50 in the second period, and Cleveland Barons (MM) got as close as 5-3 when Mason Yanchar scored 11:46 into the third period.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM)'s penalty kill excelled, as St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) stifled Cleveland Barons (MM)'s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) forced Cleveland Barons (MM) goalie Christian Herr to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) was helped by Will Baginski, who tallied one goal. Baginski scored 15:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Michael Joyce assisted on the tally. St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) also had goals scored by James Long, Luke Gassett, and Jared Preete, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) were Ryan Edgar, who had one and Christopher Franzen, who had two.

Cleveland Barons (MM) put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Louis AAA Blues (MM) to score on any of its six power plays. Cleveland Barons (MM) could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.
