Hawkesbury boosted by Skinner's play in net, beats Smiths Falls 4-1

Cole Skinner had a standout game with 36 saves, and the Hawkesbury Hawks beat the Smiths Falls Bears 4-1.

Hawkesbury's penalty kill excelled, as the Hawks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Hawkesbury was led by Adriano Leone, who registered one goal. Leone scored 15:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury. Johnathan Kovacevic picked up the assist.

The Hawks forced Smiths Falls' goalies to work in net, launching 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Evan DeBrouwer made 14 stops and Dyllan Lubbesmeyer made 13. Hawkesbury stifled the Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Hawkesbury also had goals scored by Joe Smith, Bruno Cheff, and Brett Everson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Charles Levesque, who had two and Eric Theander and Ryan Jackson, who contributed one each.

Smiths Falls' offense operated below its season average. The Bears put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The Hawks were unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Smiths Falls was led by Michael McKenney, who scored the team's only goal. McKenney scored 11:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Hawkesbury. Matthew Kenney provided the assist.

Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
