Brooks leads Kemptville to shutout victory over Smiths Falls

Peter Brooks was superb between the pipes for the Kemptville 73s, as he did not allow a goal in a 2-0 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears.

Kemptville's penalty kill excelled, as the 73s gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Kemptville was paced by Matthew Titus, who grabbed one goal. Titus scored 13:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kemptville. Adam Alavi assisted on the tally.

The 73s stifled Smiths Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kemptville's defense was surprisingly good. The 73s average 2.9 goals allowed per game.

Bobby Dow also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Jake Gaudet, Alex Row, and Liam Watson, who each chipped in one.

The Bears forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Smiths Falls surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Smiths Falls could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Bears average 3.6 goals per game.

Brooks rejected 30 shots on goal for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Smiths Falls' Evan DeBrouwer stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. For the Bears, Michael McKenney was ejected from the game.
