Cumberland rolls over Gloucester, 6-1Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Feb 21, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Gloucester Rangers had trouble finding ways to stop the Cumberland Grads, which beat Rangers, 6-1. Cumberland's penalty kill excelled, as the Grads gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. Cumberland was sparked by Michael Larose, who tallied one goal. Larose scored 17:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cumberland. Alex Cote picked up the assist. The Grads stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cumberland kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Doug Johnston made 40 saves on 46 shots. The Grads were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 16 penalty minutes. Cumberland additionally got points from Shawn Cameron, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cumberland included Cody Kyle, who had two and Tyler Barban and Marc-Olivier Bouchard, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Matthieu Franche, Raphael Larose, Ted McCabe, Martin Frechette, Joey Sollazzo, and DAndre John, who contributed one each and Zackhary Salloum and Branden Makara, who each chipped in two. Thierry Messervier made 18 saves for Cumberland on 19 shots. The Grads registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
