Hawkesbury holds on for 5-3 win against CornwallEd Lumley Arena Mon, Feb 15, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks survived a determined comeback attempt by the Cornwall Colts on the way to a 5-3 win. A goal by Eric Theander put Hawkesbury up 5-1 in the third period, but Cornwall pulled to within two on Tanner Spink's tally 17:47 into the third period. The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Hawkesbury was helped by Jonathan Tecce, who had one goal and one assist. Tecce scored on the power play 18:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when the Colts' Ross Craig was sent off for high sticking. Reid Murphy assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also got points from Adriano Leone, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Vincent Crivello as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Julien Denicourt and Brett Everson, who each chipped in one and Jacob Drobczyk and Bruno Cheff, who contributed two each. Cornwall was helped by Jeremy McFarlane, who registered one goal. McFarlane scored 17:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brennan Markell picked up the assist. Dean Derouchie also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Tristan Conrad, who had two and Keegan Mulhearn, Matthew Morin, and Lawson MacDougall, who each chipped in one. Cole Skinner made 22 saves for Hawkesbury on 25 shots. The Hawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brett Nichol rejected 25 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
