Leslie's hat trick boosts Cumberland over Gloucester, 8-3Earl Armstrong Arena Mon, Feb 15, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Jared Leslie netted a hat trick to lead the Cumberland Grads over the Gloucester Rangers, 8-3. Leslie's first goal came 5:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:14 into the third and at 11:02 into the third.Cumberland led 5-1 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after. The Grads forced Rangers' goalies to work in net, ripping 55 shots and forcing 47 saves. Cedric Hansen made eight stops and Doug Johnston made 39. Cumberland stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Grads found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cumberland has scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign. Cumberland additionally got points from Zackhary Salloum, who also had one goal and one assist, Mathieu Dubois, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Martin Frechette, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cumberland also had goals scored by Marc-Olivier Bouchard and Joey Sollazzo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Michael Larose, who had five, Grant Hebert and Branden Makara, who each chipped in one, and Alex Cote and Shawn Cameron, who contributed two each. The Rangers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Gloucester was led by Dan Martin, who tallied one goal and one assist. Martin scored 8:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland. Others who scored for Gloucester included Drew Shields and Paul Vella, who each put in one. More assists for Gloucester came via Vincent Guimond, who had one. Ryan Coughlin recorded 14 saves for the Grads. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rangers registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
