Huge game by Zizek boosts Nepean over Gloucester, 8-1Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Feb 14, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
Josh Zizek was all over the ice for the Nepean Raiders, as he tallied one goal and four assists in Nepean's 8-1 win over the Gloucester Rangers. Zizek scored 3:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Samuel Meisenheimer assisted on the tally. Zizek dished an assist on PJ Heger's goal that made the score 3-0 Nepean at 15:22 into the first period. He then added assists on Blake Dalton's goal at 19:22 into the first, on Heger's goal at 3:40 into the second, and on Heger's goal at 14:18 into the second.The Raiders' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. Nepean surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders forced Rangers' goalies to work without much rest, ripping 50 shots and forcing 42 saves. Doug Johnston made 22 stops and Cedric Hansen made 20. Nepean stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Raiders bested their season scoring average. Nepean averages 2.5 goals per game. Nepean additionally got points from Heger, who also racked up three goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Nepean also had goals scored by Rowan Savidant and Mike Finger, who each put in one. In addition, Nepean received assists from Justin Hess, who had three and Justin Schebel, Kari Belec, and Corey Tam, who each chipped in one. The Raiders' Francis Marotte stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Nepean registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Belec was ejected from the game. The Rangers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For Gloucester, Vincent Guimond was ejected from the game.
