Kemptville completes comeback, beats Cornwall, 5-4

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Kemptville 73s battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Cornwall Colts.

Kemptville let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The 73s took a 2-1 advantage on a goal by Owen Guy at 13:52 in the first period. Kemptville found itself down 4-2 after Cornwall's Shawn Baird put the puck home at 2:59 in the third period. After evening things up at 4-4 on a goal by Alex Row at 15:22 in the third, the 73s got the game-winner from Tyson Kirkby at 18:18 in the third period.

Kemptville stifled the Colts' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The 73s were led by Jason Tackett, who had two goals. Tackett scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kemptville had gotten the advantage when Cornwall's Lawson MacDougall was sent off for tripping. Adam Alavi assisted on the tally. Tackett's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Cornwall with 6:53 left in the third period. Quinn Wichers picked up the assist. Kemptville also got points from Guy, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Jake Gaudet, who had two and Dean Kiriacou and Bobby Dow, who each chipped in one.

The 73s were unable to stop the Colts from sending pucks towards the net, and Cornwall eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Cornwall additionally got points from Dean Derouchie, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Sebastian Dirven as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Ross Craig, Tristan Conrad, Parker Krol, and Liam Lascelle, who contributed one each.

Peter Brooks recorded 37 saves for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Colts' Lascelle stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
